Governance of the knowledge and innovation system in agriculture of the countries of Latin America. Present and future.
This publication is the result of teamwork formed by the Universitat Politècnica de València, the Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Tecnología Agraria y Alimentaria (INIA) of Spain and the Technical Administrative Secretariat (STA) of FONTAGRO. It contains an in-depth analysis by Dr. José María Álvarez Coque, on the different governance systems of agricultural research centers in Latin American countries. The INIA System of Ibero-America was created in 2003 with the aim of sharing experiences, promote mutual learning and creating synergies between these research centers. Within this framework, a series of strategic studies and regional meetings were carried out between 2016 and 2019 that aimed to know what actions are key to strengthening the capacities of the INIAs of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) in the face of challenges of the next decades.
It is FONTAGRO's wish that this document serves as a base to identify successful models of governance of the Knowledge and Innovation System (SCI) and also allows generating new ones, adapted to the local context, and that in this way collaborate with capacity building technological, organizational and institutional in a sustainable and inclusive way.
